Spa Weekend

Relaxing at the Solage Spa

On Monday, my mom and I returned from our annual spa weekend in Calistoga. (Annual is a generous term as we started going just three years ago but we definitely plan on continuing the tradition.) We took our time driving up there on Saturday and stopped at R+D Kitchen in Yountville on the way. My godmother introduced me to their amazing macho salads, which my mom was just as obsessed with as I am.

We spent the entire day Sunday in the spa, which ended up working out perfectly, as it was gloomy and rainy outside. We alternated between the relaxation room, warm pools, and eucalyptus steam room. I also enjoyed a phenomenal massage and hair rejuvenation treatment while my mom relaxed with a foot scrub and shea butter massage and the same hair service. We were both in states of complete bliss and could not stop raving about out treatments.

Sunday evening, we strolled over to the Solbar restaurant at the Solage and had the most fantastic meal. The Solbar has held a Michelin Star since 2008 and definitely did not disappoint. I would highly recommend going, if you’re ever up in the valley. The flavors are wonderful and the service is excellent.

Monday morning we continued to relax before making our way back home with a stop at R+D for lunch (again) and Bouchon Bakery. It was such a relaxing and memorable trip and I’m so lucky to have my mom who will take a spa vacation like this with me!
