This past December when my family was in La Jolla for New Years, my sister Sophia and I discovered Goodonya. It was a cold, overcast day when we hopped in the car and drove about 15 minutes north to the town of Encinitas. What started as Sophia wanting to go explore a new cycling store in the area ended with our complete infatuation with this organic cafe.

We ordered golden milk lattes, but the food looks absolutely amazing. Find the full menu here. Their breakfast (seen below) looks so delicious. They feature pasture raised, organic eggs, naturally leavened or gluten-free sourdough bread, organic meats, and sheep and goats milk cheese. As they say, “No, this is not a Portlandia episode, it’s real life people, the way food should be!”

If you happen to be in the area, go, go, go! When we return to La Jolla this year, I already know the first place I’ll go for a nutritious meal.
